Ian has worked in rural Australia all his life, from livestock management to bushfire control, from trainee to manager and on to trainer. Looking for a new direction in life in 1996, he decided that the ability to control health, strength and flexibility of the mind and body was where his future lay. Having been taught the basics of massage whilst still at school, and long having been aware of it's benefits, Ian applied to the School of Integrated Body Therapy on the Central Coast of NSW and completed their Diploma and joined the Australian Traditional Medicine Society. Massage soon became a consuming passion, and as well as attending courses as wide spread as Traditional Chinese Bodywork, Kinesiology, Lymphology, Triggerpoint Therapy and Myotherapy. Ian became and obsessed searcher of second-hand bookshops and the web, researching the history of some of the great doctors and body-workers of the past. There was a constant thread running through many of these stories, that of unexpected change in the person being treated. Ian has long been intrigued by the statement of William of Occam in the 12th century that no matter how complicated a problem may appear, there is usually a simple explanation. This brought about Ian's interest in the nervous system as the managers of all bodily function, the body's ability to heal itself, and the rediscovery of Orthotherapy which combines the best of eastern and western modalities to return to the body the ability to heal itself.
