The Retreat
Wild Edge Retreat comprises of four contemporary and luxuriously appointed Private Pool & Spa Pavilions, each designed to take maximum advantage of the magnificent views, while offering the ultimate in privacy and comfort.
Connected by raised timber boardwalks, each of the architecturally designed Private Pool & Spa Pavilions seem to float effortlessly above the trees and landscape below. Here you will instantly lose yourself in a world of romance, relaxation and indulgence.
In less than two hours drive from the hustle and bustle of the Sydney CBD, you will arrive in the quaint 19th Century Village of Wollombi, gateway to the Hunter Valley. A further 10 minute drive along the Narone Creek Valley with picturesque pastureland, you will head up a private mountain road to arrive at Wild Edge Retreat.
From the moment you enter through the gates you will feel the tension of modern life dissolve and fall away.
As Wild Edge Retreat is literally on the edge of the wilderness, there is absolutely no passing traffic, and in order to retain the peaceful tranquillity of the retreat, and the privacy of our guests, there is also no traffic within the Retreat. Guests and their luggage are conveyed from our car park (complete with two Tesla Destination Charging Points) to their luxury Pool & Spa Pavilion in an electric motorised cart, via the raised timber walkways.
Other properties may have tried to emulate our unique concept, but none can match our high standards, luxurious appointments, genuine hospitality and truly breathtaking vistas.
A Day at Wild Edge......
As dawn awakens, you will be greeted with the tranquil sounds of the Australian bush and if you are an early riser, experience a pristine sunrise as the new day beckons you to step outside and drink in the fresh mountain air, which is sure to sharpen your appetite for your breakfast, or take a dip in your own Private Plunge Pool.
During the day, a myriad of the local native wildlife visit our gardens and can be observed fairly closely. These include; Wallabies, Western Grey Kangaroos, Wallaroos, Goannas, Echidnas and even the odd Turtle. Abundant birdlife constantly come and go during the day and we are fortunate to have some of Australia’s most endangered species call Wild Edge their home.
The late afternoon brings another dimension to the Retreat, as breathtaking sunsets unfold, and what better way to relax than on your own private deck with a glass of regional wine, where you can savour the delightful sounds and aromas of the Australian bush, or in Winter, curl up in front of your cosy log fire as you gaze at the mist shrouded forests and valleys below.
As twilight falls, the forest is transformed into an entrancing night-time vista. This is when many of our other native animals become active and you will be entertained by scampering possums, bandicoots, wonderful frog symphonies, or possibly our resident Wombat.
In the darkness of the evening night, all senses are heightened beneath a brilliant starlit sky where, on clear nights, the Milky Way and shooting stars will enchant you with their mesmerising display.
